“WEEE” Directive (waste electrical and electronic equipment)

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is the fastest growing element in the municipal waste stream.

This directive sets targets for companies to dispose of IT and electronic equipment inline with the rest to Europe aiming to have around 75% of equipment recycled in the best possible manner.

Greenline Computer Services have a zero tolerance land fill policy wherever possible and aim to recycling up to 95% of all equipment collected by re-distributing when necessary and stripping completely damaged equipment down so as to have raw materials recycled.

Data Protection Act 2000

Disposing of information stored on hard drives or any other data carrying device attracts the same rule as disposing of confidential information. Not disposing of data correctly may result in hefty fines from the data commissioners office as well as legal proceedings brought forward by parties whose information may have been leaked.

We take data destruction very seriously and as such we take extra care when disposing of data carrying devices. All data is wiped clean using the latest software.

Hazardous Waste Act

There are many hazardous substances used in IT equipment including lead, cadmium, mercury, bromine compounds and arsenic. Disposal poses a real threat of pollution to our water, air and land.

We take all the necessary means to dispose of these in the correct manner.

We comply with the above regulations in the same manner that we comply with the WEEE directive.
